Catholic Schools Week 2012
We are gathered this weekend to officially kick off the celebration of Catholic Schools Week. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is Faith, Academics and Service. The Bishop Garrigan System epitomizes all 3 of these words well. Our entire faculty helps us to live and understand our faith simply by their example. We are constantly reminded what a close personal bond with Jesus, will mean to each of us. Our academics certainly foster the desire for us to grow in intellect as many students yearly seek out post secondary opportunities. Academics are more than just taking a test but the organizational aptitude to learn and carry on what we have learned. Finally, a big part of continuing to build our faith is being of service to others. Service provides an opening to another dimension of our faith; for it is in giving that we receive. Service also provides a benefit to the surrounding community as it provides society with productive members. Throughout Faith, Academics and Service God remains the focal point of what we are doing, what we are supposed to be and what we are all about as a Faith Community. The Bishop Garrigan System is much more than teachers, staff and students. The support from our numerous patrons, parents and the communities as a whole make our Catholic Schools go. We have had fantastic extra-curricular participation and success over the fifty-three years that we have served not only the Algona area but our surrounding communities. During Catholic Schools Week the celebration lets us thank our faculty members, administration, staff, volunteers and our parents and grandparents who have made this system possible and continue to help it drive forward.
